Dale
Hollow Lake has many resorts throughout the County offering
many types of water sports and opportunities to fish.
Dale Hollow Lake is the home of the world record smallmouth
bass. Obey River Campground
which is maintained by the Corps
of Engineers is located just South of Byrdstown on Highway
111. The lake offers many opportunities to enjoy house boating,
skiing, boating, fishing, swimming, scuba diving, and Bald Eagle
watching. There are opportunities in the area to hike
and horseback ride
as well.
 
Cordell
Hull Birthplace Museum State Park is located near Byrdstown
as well. There people can tour the boyhood cabin and museum
with memorabilia of the career and travels of Mr. Hull, the
Pickett County native who served as Secretary of State in the
administration of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. This park
offers picnic tables, restrooms and an outdoor area used for
performances.
 
Pickett
State Rustic Park
is 11,750 acres of pristine wilderness with scenic botanical
and geological wonders. This Park offers camping areas, water
fountains, shelters, outdoor grills, volleyball courts, a football
field, benches, walking trails restrooms, showers, lighted tennis
courts, a baseball field and a picnic area. They can be reached

Big
South Fork National River and Recreational Area is also
very near by with all of its geographical features. It has been
referred to as the Grand Canyon of the East. You may contact

Pickett
County Schools have a walking trail that is lighted
and open from sun-up until sundown. The Pickett County Recreational
Park is located just off North Main Street in Byrdstown.
It offers water fountains, shelters, volleyball courts, baseball
field, restrooms, benches and a picnic area.
Churches:
Pickett
County has a strong religious community that has roots that
go back over several generations. Some of the churches were
established during the 1800's. The people of Pickett County
cherish their rich history and most are eager to share it with
others.

Gospel Singing-the second Saturday in June each year. Local
and area artists and musicians will be performing bluegrass,

Hollow Bass Classic- This is our annual fall fishing
tournament (2-man buddy tournament). The location rotates
amongst area marinas as host. It is a two day tournament in
October each year. IStratos/Javelin was our V.I.P.
